Iran’s supreme leader has criticized Donald Trump for the harm and negative portrayal he has inflicted on the Iranian nation during recent anti-government demonstrations. Trump had previously threatened action against Iran regarding the treatment of protesters but later shifted to a more conciliatory stance, citing the absence of executions.
In response, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei denounced the protests as incited by American interference, accusing the demonstrators of aligning with foreign interests. Khamenei took to social media to condemn what he termed as “American-instigated sedition” aimed at undermining Iran’s sovereignty.
Moreover, Khamenei attributed the unrest and casualties to entities associated with Israel and the US, alleging their involvement in causing significant harm. Despite Trump’s warnings and the heightened tensions, the White House maintained that all options were under consideration, including a potential strike against Iran.
Following deliberations and advice from advisors, Trump opted not to proceed with military action, as concerns arose regarding the effectiveness of strikes in toppling the Iranian government and the sustainability of a prolonged military engagement. Trump expressed gratitude towards Iran for abstaining from executing political prisoners, a move he commended.
The situation in Tehran appears calm, with daily activities resuming, although an internet blackout persists. The Human Rights Activists News Agency reported a death toll of 3,090, marking a significant loss of life amid the recent protests, reminiscent of historic periods of unrest in Iran.
