Amelia Dimoldenberg, the familiar face behind the renowned YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” recently shared her decision to wrap up the show after more than a decade of mingling with celebrities over fried chicken. In an emotional Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed gratitude for the journey, describing the show as her personal romantic comedy that has brought joy to many viewers. While acknowledging that “Chicken Shop Date” has been a significant part of her life, she feels it’s time to embark on new adventures.
Having initiated the show 12 years ago by interviewing musicians within Britain’s underground rap scene, Dimoldenberg has since expanded her guest list to include big names like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. “Chicken Shop Date” distinguishes itself with a casual format where Dimoldenberg engages in light-hearted and sometimes flirtatious conversations with celebrities at a fried chicken joint in London, resulting in candid and playful interactions more reminiscent of a first date than a traditional interview.
Dimoldenberg’s interviews have not been limited to local talent, as she has also hosted notable Canadians such as Ryan Reynolds, who playfully erred in naming Blake Lively’s character on “Gossip Girl,” and Shania Twain, who disclosed not having met Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Beyond the chicken shop setting, Dimoldenberg’s success has opened doors to various opportunities, including covering the Oscars red carpet and interviewing figures like Hudson Williams.
As Dimoldenberg bids farewell to “Chicken Shop Date,” she hinted at upcoming projects, including developing a young adult drama series for the BBC. However, she promised a few more memorable encounters before concluding the show permanently, leaving fans eager to see what the future holds for the talented host.
