“Hidden Gem: UK’s Charming Arnside Village Lures Locals and Few Tourists”

A picturesque coastal village in the UK remains off the beaten path as tourists flock to popular destinations nearby, while locals are content with staying under the radar of the tourist board.

The Lake District is renowned globally for its stunning landscapes that have inspired artists and writers for centuries. While tourists frequent well-known spots like Lake Windermere, Kendal, and Keswick, a charming seaside village, acclaimed by The Times as one of the top coastal places to live in Britain, often goes unnoticed.

Arnside offers a delightful blend of lush countryside views where pheasants are as common a sight as seagulls gliding above the pristine beaches.

Jackie Ellis, a resident of Penrith in Cumbria, enjoys the peaceful charm of Arnside, just a 50-mile journey from her home. She appreciates the proximity to the sea and describes it as a serene and beautiful oasis.

Despite its allure, Arnside tends to stay hidden from most people’s radar due to the tourist board’s focus on promoting the Lake District, as per reports from the Express.

Locals like Jackie feel grateful for the tranquil environment of Arnside compared to the bustling tourist hubs in Cumbria.

Arnside boasts two unique geographical features that set it apart from typical seaside locations. The village is known for its tidal bore, an extraordinary event where the incoming tide meets resistance, creating a distinctive wave that alerts residents and visitors as it surges up the estuary.

Situated on Morecambe Bay, Arnside is infamous for its perilous quicksand and mudflats, often requiring Coastguard teams and Bay Search and Rescue to rescue those trapped in the treacherous sandy terrain as the tide comes in.

Trevor Brown, who moved to Arnside from East Sussex, has found solace in the village’s captivating beauty, dedicating his time to capturing stunning landscape photographs.

Although not heavily frequented by tourists during his visit, Trevor acknowledges the increasing popularity of Arnside, especially during the summer season.

Leonie Punter, the owner of She Sells, a seaside business she has run for 15 years, notes that Arnside attracts many visitors on sunny days but often goes unnoticed compared to the Lake District. She considers it a hidden gem known only to those in the know.
