“Gordie Howe Bridge Sees 37K Crossings in 5 Days”

Statistics Canada has reported that in the days following its opening, tens of thousands of drivers crossed the Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada. The much-anticipated bridge, linking Windsor and Detroit, finally opened for traffic on July 27 after experiencing several weeks of delay. According to preliminary data from StatCan, there were 18,900 return trips by Canadian residents from the United States via the Gordie Howe bridge during its initial five days of operation. Additionally, 18,100 U.S. residents made their way into Canada using the same route during that period. In comparison, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel collectively recorded 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadian and U.S. residents over the same timeframe. Furthermore, StatCan noted that 4,100 commercial trucks traveled to Canada through the Gordie Howe bridge in the last five days of July.
