Metrolinx has announced that there will be no GO train service between Stratford and Mount Pleasant station on the Kitchener line this weekend due to significant track upgrades being carried out. Commuters heading to or from Toronto will need to utilize bus transportation from the Kitchener or Guelph GO stations to reach alternative stations:
– Passengers from Kitchener will be bussed to Bramalea GO for train connections or can continue on to Hwy 407 bus terminal to access TTC Line 1 to Union Station.
– Guelph and Stratford riders will be shuttled to Mount Pleasant GO.
During Saturday and Sunday, GO train services will operate solely between Mount Pleasant and Mount Dennis GO stations. At Mount Dennis GO station, travelers can transfer to the TTC for journeys to Union Station.
GO Transit has advised of expected late-night service adjustments on Friday. Minor schedule modifications will also be in effect on Monday and Tuesday:
– Eastbound trains departing from Stratford, Kitchener, and Guelph stations will depart two minutes earlier than usual.
– Westbound trains departing Union Station will arrive in Guelph, Kitchener, and Stratford two minutes later than usual.
Regular service is anticipated to resume on Wednesday. Metrolinx has stated that the closure is essential for carrying out foundational work for a second track and corridor enhancements along the Kitchener line.
