Catherine Ommanney, a former romantic interest of Prince Harry, has responded to accusations of leaving a hotel in Majorica without settling her bill by attributing it to a “technical error.”
Ommanney, aged 53, was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud following allegations from the Playas del Rey Hotel management that she had not paid her bill amounting to nearly £450 after a nine-day stay, where she accumulated a charge of €500 (£434) using a credit card that lacked sufficient funds, according to investigators.
Despite the claims, Ommanney has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, labeling the accusations as “unfounded.” She stated that the bill was indeed settled and that she possesses evidence of full payment. She intends to seek redress through the justice system for what she deems a mistake on the hotel’s part.
Speaking to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney described the incident as a “nightmarish day,” clarifying that the bill was cleared via a bank transfer as the hotel did not accept credit cards. She expressed discontent over the situation, highlighting her disdain for being detained.
Accompanied by a Civil Guard officer, Ommanney attended a closed-door hearing in Palma after being released on bail pending further investigations. It was uncertain whether she had provided testimony in court to explain the circumstances. Her legal representative declined to offer comments without her consent.
When contacted for a response, a receptionist at the Playas del Rey Hotel declined to provide a statement, citing unavailability. Ommanney refrained from making public remarks immediately after her release, leaving her arrest location undisclosed.
Known for her role in the Real Housewives of DC, Ommanney, an interior designer, previously disclosed a brief relationship with Prince Harry in 2006. Reflecting on their interaction, she suggested that Harry sought a more profound connection with someone older and experienced, hinting at the attractiveness of their age difference. Harry has not confirmed or addressed their alleged involvement.
