The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory during the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico on Wednesday. Yvonne Ejim led the Canadian team with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.
Canada took an early lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and extended their dominance to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, is scheduled to run until Sunday.
In their previous match, Canada defeated Senegal 72-57 in the tournament opener. Up next, the Canadians are set to face host Mexico on Thursday. The ultimate winner of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
