“Canada’s Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team Dominates at World Championships”

Canada’s women’s wheelchair basketball team achieved their second win at the world championships in Ottawa by defeating Australia 79-30 at Carleton University. Kady Dandeneau, a seasoned player from Pender Island, B.C., led the team with 33 points, 6 assists, and 12 rebounds. Arinn Young, hailing from St. Albert, Alta., contributed 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, supporting Canada’s 2-0 start in the 12-team women’s bracket.

Canada took an early lead, finishing the first quarter 17-10 ahead, setting the tone for the game. The team finished strong with a 25-4 run in the fourth quarter. Shooting at 51% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, Canada displayed a dominant performance.

In their previous match, the Canadian women’s team defeated Spain 76-51 at TD Place. Their next game will be against China at TD Place on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Canadian men’s team also started their campaign successfully by beating Morocco 74-51 and will face Germany at Carleton University on Friday at 12 p.m. ET.

Both the men’s and women’s competitions are being held in Ottawa this year. Fans can catch the action as the Canadian women’s team continues to showcase their skills in pursuit of the championship title.
