Apple is commemorating a significant achievement today, marking its 50th anniversary as the prominent U.S. tech giant. The renowned company was established on April 1, 1976, by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, who utilized Jobs’ parents’ residence and garage in Los Altos, California, to introduce their first product, the Apple 1. At the time of its creation, the personal PC, now an iconic brand, exceeded all expectations, propelling Apple to become one of the largest corporations globally.
Initially focusing solely on computers, Apple has diversified its product range to include groundbreaking devices such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The Verge conducted a survey among its audience to determine Apple’s greatest hits, yielding results that may surprise some. The original iPhone, launched in 2007, claimed the top spot, becoming Apple’s flagship product that revolutionized communication, entertainment, mobile payments, and photography.
Ranked second is the legendary iPod, which revolutionized the music industry in 2001 by offering “1,000 songs in your pocket,” replacing bulky tape and CD players. Apple recently discontinued this iconic product line in May 2022. Contrary to expectations, the third spot was awarded to Apple’s M1 PC chip by The Verge readers. This innovative silicon has redefined Apple’s PC performance, delivering enhanced efficiency and capabilities.
