“Alex Lamontagne’s Brace Propels Vancouver Rise to Victory”

In her first game for Vancouver, Alex Lamontagne netted two goals, leading the visiting Rise to a 5-1 victory over the Ottawa Rapid in Northern Super League action on Saturday. Additional goals came from Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes, who converted a penalty shot. The Rise dominated the second half, scoring four goals, including three within a 10-minute span. Elise Bell scored for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, ending Jessica Wulf’s clean sheet hopes.

Following this win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, surpassing the Halifax Tide by one point. Their record now stands at seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, totaling 22 points. Meanwhile, the Rapid retains the top spot with 33 points, holding a three-point lead over the Montreal Roses. They have recorded 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.

During the match, Vancouver had a slight edge in possession with 53% compared to Ottawa’s 47%. The Rise also outshot the Rapid 17-8, with 11 shots on target versus the hosts’ three. Vancouver was awarded four corners, while Ottawa received three. Both teams received two yellow cards each.

Next up, the Rise will face the Calgary Wild on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will travel to play AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
