“Fitbit Air: Google’s Stylish New Fitness Tracker”

Fitbit, known for promoting physical activity for more than 15 years, has introduced a new product under Google’s ownership – the Fitbit Air. This latest offering provides a cost-effective and convenient method for monitoring daily fitness levels. Unlike previous Fitbit models, the Fitbit Air lacks a display screen and resembles popular Whoop bands that wrap around the wrist like a stylish accessory.

While the absence of a screen means certain features like message reading, heart rate monitoring, and exercise statistics are not available, there are notable advantages. The Fitbit Air is designed for enhanced comfort, resembling a bracelet-style strap more than a traditional smartwatch. In a recent study by Google, the Fitbit Air was praised for its superior comfort compared to leading competitors.

In terms of battery life, the Fitbit Air boasts a week-long power capacity without requiring removal. Additionally, it supports fast charging, providing a day’s worth of power in just five minutes. The device includes a new magnetic charger with bi-directional technology, eliminating the need to worry about orientation when recharging.

Despite its minimalist appearance, the Fitbit Air retains core Fitbit functionalities. It tracks nightly sleep, activity levels, daily workouts, heart rate, and can detect conditions like AFib, alerting users to irregular heart rhythms. Internal features consist of an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor.

As the Fitbit Air lacks a screen, all data is seamlessly transferred to smartphones, where the Google Health Coach can offer a comprehensive health overview. The device is fully water-resistant up to 50 meters and will be available in Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender color options.

The price for the Fitbit Air is set at £84.99 when it becomes available for purchase.
