“Air Canada Workers Detained in Drug Smuggling Probe”

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have detained two Air Canada workers on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in enabling the transportation of cocaine and cannabis through Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport. The RCMP disclosed in a press release that they are conducting searches at two residences, a vehicle, and the work location of the Air Canada employees in Dorval, Quebec, in collaboration with the airline. The investigation revealed that the suspects hold various roles linked to ground operations at Air Canada.

The RCMP’s statement stated, “They are believed to have collaborated in a scheme to handle luggage in secure airport zones, aiding in the importation of cocaine and the exportation of cannabis.” The investigation commenced in May after authorities intercepted 62.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in backpacks from a flight originating from Punta Cana. Subsequently, an additional 56 kilograms of cannabis were confiscated during the course of the inquiry.

The two detained individuals will undergo questioning and then be released pending further legal actions, as per the RCMP. Air Canada has suspended the two employees as the investigation proceeds.
