NHL Legend André Pronovost Dies at 90

Former Montreal Canadiens player André Pronovost, a key member of four consecutive Stanley Cup-winning teams, has passed away at the age of 90. The Canadiens confirmed Pronovost’s death on Tuesday, though the cause was not specified.

Originally from Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, Pronovost enjoyed a decade-long NHL career, playing for Montreal, Boston, Detroit, and Minnesota. His glory years were marked by his contributions to the Canadiens’ Stanley Cup victories from 1957 to 1960. During his time with Montreal, Pronovost recorded 109 points in 290 regular-season games and added 22 points in 70 playoff appearances.

Following his time with the Canadiens, Pronovost concluded his NHL journey with the Minnesota North Stars in the 1967-68 season, having been drafted in the 1967 expansion draft. Notably, he accumulated a total of 198 points across 557 games in his NHL tenure.

It is worth mentioning that Pronovost is the grandfather of Anthony Mantha, a forward for the New Jersey Devils.
