“Canadian Women’s Hockey Team Preps for World Championships”

The Canadian women’s hockey team is set to face off against the United States on October 28 in Windsor, Ontario, in a warm-up match before the 2026 world championship, as announced by Hockey Canada on Tuesday. Additionally, details about a second exhibition game in the United States will be revealed soon.

The women’s world hockey championships are scheduled to take place from November 6 to 16 in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark. Canada, who was defeated by the United States in the gold-medal game at the Milan Cortina Olympics in February, will kick off their tournament against Sweden on November 6. The Canadian team will also compete against Japan, Denmark, and Finland in the group stage matches.

This upcoming championship marks Canada’s first competition under the leadership of Danièle Sauvageau, who recently took over as the national team’s general manager from Gina Kingsbury. The team is still in search of a new head coach to replace Troy Ryan, who held the position for six years.

Marie-Philip Poulin, the captain of Team Canada, is expected to miss the tournament due to a knee injury that required surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn meniscus in her right knee back in July.
