“70,000 Pints of Guinness Stolen in UK Heist”

Thieves in the United Kingdom have set a new standard. Authorities in Britain are working to retrieve 70,000 pints of stolen Guinness. The theft took place at a depot near Liverpool in northwest England, where two trailer truckloads of the popular dark beer were taken. The value of the stolen Guinness is estimated at 115,000 pounds ($216,000 Cdn), according to the Cheshire Constabulary.

Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchy emphasized the importance of ensuring that the stolen items are fully recovered. He stated, “While it’s often said that ‘Guinness is good for you,’ this holds true only when the product has been legitimately acquired.” The stolen beer was intended for distribution to pubs but was intercepted by two drivers who seized the trailers containing approximately 800 barrels of stout at an industrial park in Runcorn on Monday night.

The stolen trailers were valued at around 50,000 pounds ($93,000). This incident follows a recent beer theft in the United States, where approximately 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon were stolen, garnering public attention due to the brewer’s humorous social media responses. The theft of the Pabst Blue Ribbon in Southern California was estimated at $70,000 US ($97,000 Cdn), prompting the company to offer a $20,000 US reward for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen beer.

In response to the theft, Pabst took to social media, addressing the thief and urging them to acquire the beer through legal means. The company’s Instagram post read, “To the thief: we understand your desire to boast about your PBR stash to your friends, but we hope you acquire it in an honorable manner. P.S. This is not a joke, and we are serious.”
