Noemie Brochart and Shay Ciezki each contributed 15 points to lead the Phoenix Mercury to a commanding 101-69 victory over the Toronto Tempo on Saturday evening. This marked the second-largest winning margin for Phoenix this season, following their impressive 99-66 victory against the Las Vegas Aces in the season opener.
Sami Whitcomb added 14 points, while reserves Marta Suarez and Maddy Westbeld chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Lexi Held also contributed 11 points for the Mercury (14-26), ending their recent four-game losing streak.
Alyssa Thomas showcased her playmaking skills by distributing 12 assists, marking her 11th game this season with 10 or more assists. On the Tempo side, Isabelle Harrison recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Kiki Rice scored 14 points, and Laura Juskaite added 10 points. The Tempo (11-29) were missing their leading scorer Marina Mabrey, who has been sidelined by an adductor injury for the past six games.
Phoenix took control early, establishing a 21-8 lead and maintaining their dominance throughout the game. They led 27-17 after the first quarter, increased the lead to 58-35 by halftime, and extended it further to 88-49 by the end of the third quarter.
