“New Bend Bar & Offsales Set to Elevate Whistle Bend Community”

A new establishment is preparing to launch in the rapidly expanding Whistle Bend neighborhood of Whitehorse, drawing positive reactions from local residents. Bend Bar and Offsales, located on Keno Way, will be the first bar and eatery in the area, with an anticipated opening around mid-September. Co-owned by Sukhan Brar, her husband Harjot Brar, and their associate Kuljeet Brar, the business aims to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, positioning itself as a community-centric neighborhood bar rather than a family-run enterprise.

The establishment will have a seating capacity for approximately 39 patrons and will offer off-sales for alcoholic beverages. The menu will feature pub-style fare like chicken wings, fries, onion rings, and pizza, with a touch of Indian-inspired flavors. Live music performances are also planned for weekends, adding to the overall ambiance.

Whistle Bend, with a population larger than the combined total of Watson Lake and Dawson City in Yukon, continues to see growth. As of March 2026, the neighborhood was home to 4,733 residents, up from 4,322 the previous year. Currently, residents rely on eateries and stores in the nearby Porter Creek area. Some locals have advocated for improved transportation infrastructure and community facilities in the subdivision.

Residents like Richard Pearce and Marc-André Gelinas express support for the new dining option in the neighborhood. Pearce, residing in Whistle Bend for about a year, notes the potential benefits of additional services, while Gelinas, a two-year resident, appreciates the convenience of having amenities closer to home. Gelinas learned about the upcoming restaurant through permit consultations and welcomes any development that reduces the need to travel downtown for essentials.

Overall, the introduction of Bend Bar and Offsales is seen as a positive step towards enhancing the amenities and services available to Whistle Bend residents, contributing to the growth and community spirit of the area.
