A collaborative police inquiry is in progress regarding the suspicious fatalities of two Ottawa residents. One individual was discovered deceased in a residence in Lowertown, while another succumbed to a crash in western Quebec.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) responded to a fatal single-vehicle accident on Highway 50 near Montebello, Quebec. The SQ reported that a man in his 30s lost control of his vehicle, struck a guardrail, and collided with a concrete wall.
The man’s injuries were deemed “suspicious,” as per a media release from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) on Saturday night. Subsequently, he was transported to the hospital but unfortunately passed away shortly after, OPS confirmed.
The OPS homicide unit took charge after the SQ sought assistance for their investigation, prompting Ottawa police to visit a residence on Guigues Avenue around 11 a.m. During their search, a second deceased individual was uncovered inside the residence, as reported by Ottawa police.
OPS refrained from disclosing any potential connections between the deaths, except that they are both considered suspicious and involve Ottawa residents. The identities of the deceased individuals are being withheld pending notification of their families, according to OPS.
Residents can anticipate an increased police presence in the vicinity of Guigues Avenue as law enforcement gathers evidence and interviews witnesses. However, OPS reassured the public that there is no imminent danger to public safety.
