Serena Williams to Partner with Alcaraz at U.S. Open

Serena Williams is set to join forces with Carlos Alcaraz for a formidable mixed doubles partnership as she makes her comeback at the U.S. Open. The U.S. Tennis Association made the announcement on Saturday, granting Williams and Alcaraz a wild card entry into the tournament’s mixed doubles main draw which kicks off on Tuesday.

This marks Williams’ first appearance at the U.S. Open since 2022, following her return to the tennis circuit this summer. While it remains uncertain whether she will compete in the singles event in New York, the USTA has reserved a women’s wild card spot for her if she decides to participate. At Wimbledon, Williams competed in singles and teamed up with her sister Venus for doubles at the Cincinnati Open.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz revealed his intention to defend his U.S. Open singles title after recovering from a right wrist injury that had kept him out of competition since April.
