“Inuk Kid: 12-Year-Old Rapper Making Waves in Music Scene”

Shemi Sakiagak, also known as the rapper Inuk Kid, is gaining recognition in the music scene. The 12-year-old, hailing from Salluit, made his debut performance at the Aqpik Jam music festival in Nunavik recently. Reflecting on the experience, he expressed joy in entertaining a live audience and engaging with fans through autographs.

Inuk Kid’s journey into rap began at the age of six, alongside his brother, who unfortunately couldn’t attend his first live show. His mother, Susie Sakiagak, expressed pride in his musical endeavors, emphasizing the positive impact his music has on their family.

Initially rapping solely in Inuktitut, Inuk Kid now seamlessly incorporates English into his lyrics. His music focuses on themes of friendship and sports, resonating with a diverse audience. Collaborating with No Sleep Academy and producer Michael El-Khoury, he released a five-song album in April and teased upcoming tracks, including the unreleased “Left, Right,” which he performed to conclude his set at the festival.

Inuk Kid encourages listeners to explore his music, promising an enjoyable experience.
