As “The Odyssey” gears up for its official release in the lucrative Chinese market, with a dedicated rollout across 800 Imax screens, industry insiders anticipate significant demand for the film in the region.
The appeal of Imax technology has played a significant role in driving global interest in both “The Odyssey” and “Brand New Day.” Despite initial concerns about dwindling theater attendance, Imax has experienced a surge in popularity, solidifying its position as a key player in event cinema.
Christopher Nolan’s close association with Imax is evident in his decision to shoot “The Odyssey” entirely in Imax format, a move that has paid off handsomely. The film has become IMAX’s highest-grossing domestic release, earning $147.3 million US in the country.
