Tory politician Robert Jenrick faced heckling during his appearance in his hometown after switching allegiance to the Reform party. An attendee at the event in Newark was escorted out by security after shouting at the MP as he took the stage, eliciting boos from Reform supporters.
The rally, hastily organized in Mr. Jenrick’s constituency, drew a large crowd of party backers following his departure from his previous party. When confronted by the protester, Jenrick responded with a mild “Good to see you my friend.”
The protester then made a confusing remark linking another Tory MP, David Davis, to a certain individual. This incident cast a shadow over Reform’s attempt to integrate the controversial former Conservative minister, amid the mounting discontent over Jenrick’s move.
After being dismissed by Kemi Badenoch for alleged scheming, Jenrick officially joined Reform last Thursday, admitting to the party faithful that his decision came sooner than anticipated. Despite the backlash, Jenrick expressed conviction in his choice, stating, “I have never felt stronger and more certain about anything I have done in my life.”
Taking a swipe at his former party, Jenrick declared his commitment to never defending the indefensible again by joining Reform. He criticized the Conservatives for their inability to address Britain’s issues and proclaimed that Reform will be the solution.
