Aldi has recently implemented significant price reductions on a wide range of products throughout January. The discounted items span across various categories such as fresh and frozen foods, pantry staples, household necessities, and personal care items.
Among the reduced prices, customers can now purchase red lentils for 99p, down from £1.39, porridge sachets for 79p, reduced from 99p, and organic steel-cut oats for £1.99, discounted from £2.19. Additionally, beef and pork Bolognese mince now cost £4.49, down from £4.79, pork and gammon joints are priced at £3.49, reduced from £3.99, and Specially Selected British cheese is now available for £2.29, down from £2.59.
Other notable price cuts include sweetcorn at 55p, previously 59p, and a pack of six large free-range eggs now priced at £1.75, down from £1.79. Shoppers can enjoy savings of 50p on selected items like no beef flank steak, now priced at £6.99 from £7.49, and vegetable pieces and meatballs, now costing £1.49 down from £1.99.
Aldi’s initiative to lower prices in January represents an investment exceeding £22 million. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the brand’s commitment to providing customers with the best possible prices without compromising on quality. This move follows Aldi’s announcement to open 40 new stores in the UK this year, with an investment of £370 million.
The supermarket chain’s expansion plans are part of a broader £1.6 billion investment program aimed at achieving a total of 1,500 UK stores. In a recent accolade, Aldi was recognized as the cheapest supermarket in 2025 by Which? consumer rights magazine, maintaining its position as the most cost-effective option for shoppers.
