Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly reached an agreement to face off in an anticipated heavyweight bout, with key details now unveiled.
Earlier reports in December hinted at the long-standing rivalry between the two fighters culminating in a ring showdown in 2026. However, following his recent knockout victory over Jake Paul during the Christmas period, Joshua found himself in a tragic car accident in Nigeria, leading to the unfortunate deaths of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Despite concerns that Joshua’s boxing career might be in jeopardy after surviving the accident, the former two-time heavyweight champion has resumed light training activities, sparking discussions of a potential ring comeback this summer. Speculations suggest that Joshua could potentially square off against former adversary Dillian Whyte before pursuing a bout with Fury.
Renowned boxing journalist Gareth A Davies disclosed that both Fury and Joshua have officially agreed to the fight. Speaking on talkSPORT, Davies confirmed that the fight deal has been signed behind the scenes, indicating a probable showdown either towards the end of this year or in the following year. The match is expected to be broadcast on Netflix, with Joshua likely returning to the ring in June or July.
Netflix is set to broadcast Fury’s return on April 11. The ‘Gypsy King’ shocked fans last year by announcing his retirement from boxing, only to reverse the decision and prepare to face Russian knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Joshua is nearing a full training regimen in anticipation of a potential ring comeback later this year. Despite previous uncertainties following his near-fatal accident, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, remains optimistic about a potential bout between Fury and Joshua, hinting at a late summer return for Joshua before a possible clash with Fury by the end of the year or early 2027.
