Wizz Air introduces new flight routes to a picturesque island renowned for its sunny weather and clear blue waters, offering tickets starting from just £45.99.
Amidst the gloomy weather in the UK, the desire for a sun-soaked getaway is growing, and Wizz Air has expanded its services to include the iconic Greek island of Santorini. Known for its serene atmosphere and charming whitewashed villages with blue domes, Santorini remains a beloved destination for travelers seeking tranquility.
The new Wizz Air route linking London Gatwick to Santorini is set to commence on 1 July 2026, enhancing the airline’s connections to Greece in preparation for the upcoming summer travel season. With flights operating twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays, British travelers now have more options to plan their summer vacations.
Offering direct flights starting at just £45.99 one-way, Wizz Air makes it more accessible for travelers to book a peaceful retreat during the summer holidays without breaking the bank. Santorini boasts stunning cliffside views, volcanic sand beaches, and mesmerizing sunsets, providing a wealth of experiences for visitors.
Exploring the island, tourists can stroll along cobblestone paths lined with charming white buildings adorned with vibrant pink bougainvillea flowers, evoking a picturesque scene reminiscent of the movie Mamma Mia! Perched atop volcanic cliffs, Santorini offers various hiking trails like the popular Fira-Oia trail, allowing visitors to appreciate its unique beauty.
In addition to scenic wonders, visitors can explore ancient ruins at Akrotiri, take boat trips on the turquoise waters, relax in Santorini’s hot springs, and indulge in wine tasting at local vineyards. The island also offers a wide array of restaurants, bars, and cafes serving authentic Greek dishes, from Gyros to Horiatiki salad.
The launch of the new Wizz Air route to Santorini is part of the airline’s efforts to expand its UK-Greece connections. Wizz Air has announced additional flights to Chania, Corfu, Mykonos, Rhodes, and Zakynthos, all scheduled to begin this summer.
Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director at Wizz Air UK, expressed excitement about the Santorini route, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to offering affordable travel options. Booking for the London Gatwick to Santorini flights, with a travel time of under four hours, will soon be available on the Wizz Air website and app, starting at £45.99 for a one-way ticket. The inaugural flight is slated for 1 July 2026.
