A video of actress Amanda Seyfried from Mean Girls went viral as she was captured in a series of uncomfortable moments during the Golden Globes ceremony. Seyfried appeared displeased when she lost the Best Actress in a musical or comedy award to Rose Byrne. The clip showed Seyfried, nominated for The Testament of Ann Lee, making a face before managing to smile and applaud the winner.
Social media users quickly commented on Seyfried’s reactions, with one calling it the highlight of the night. Another person mentioned Seyfried being a two-time runner-up, while someone else claimed she was unfairly denied the award.
It was a disappointing evening for Seyfried as she also lost to Michelle Williams in the Best Actress in a limited series category. Cameras caught Seyfried clapping before the winner was announced and whispering what seemed to be ‘she’s not even here’ when Michelle was declared the winner.
Meanwhile, at the 83rd annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles, Owen Cooper, known for Netflix’s Adolescence, made history by becoming the youngest winner of the Best Supporting Male Actor award. Cooper, aged 16, broke a record that had stood since 2010 when Glee star Chris Colfer won the same award at 20.
Cooper thanked his family, friends, and co-stars on stage, sharing his journey from being a complete unknown to an award-winning actor. Despite feeling overwhelmed during his speech, the audience applauded him as he became the youngest star to win at the event.
Overcoming tough competition, Cooper won against other nominees to secure the trophy for Best Supporting Male Actor. Adolescence, the British Netflix sensation, also received multiple nominations, including for Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, and Best Television Limited Series.
This win also established Cooper as the second-youngest male Golden Globe winner, with the record being held by Ricky Schroder, who won the award at just nine years old in 1980.
