A tragic incident unfolded when a three-year-old child was fatally attacked by his grandmother’s dog in an outdoor enclosure. The toddler, Beckett Brown, was targeted by the American Bulldog at his grandmother’s residence, prompting her to intervene and try to halt the attack. Unfortunately, despite being rushed to the hospital along with his injured grandmother, Beckett succumbed to his injuries. The grandmother, Kristen Nelson, sustained injuries as well and was transferred to another medical facility for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the dog responsible for the attack has been euthanized, ensuring no ongoing safety risks for the community.
Following an investigation, it was revealed that the boy accessed an enclosed outdoor area where the adult dog was housed, leading to the tragic incident on a Sunday afternoon at a property near New York Mills, New York. In a separate incident, a mother of three, Barbara Brewington, tragically lost her life after a stray dog she had taken in attacked her and her pet. Barbara, 38, succumbed to her injuries after the stray dog turned aggressive towards her while she tried to separate it from her own smaller dog. Despite the fatal outcome, Barbara’s pet survived the ordeal, and the stray dog was euthanized by an animal control team.
Sheriff Jimmy Thornton of Sampson County recounted how deputies found Ms. Brewington outside her residence with severe injuries, ultimately leading to her passing as first responders attempted to assist her. Ms. Brewington managed to safeguard her smaller dog before collapsing inside her home. Described as a devoted mother and dental assistant, Barbara Brewington’s tragic demise left behind a grieving family and community.
