“Elderly Man Detained with Deceased Wife at Airport”

An elderly man was apprehended when attempting to board a flight with his deceased wife in a wheelchair at Tenerife South Airport. Airport staff became concerned about the woman’s condition as she appeared unresponsive and had a significantly low body temperature. Emergency procedures were promptly activated upon suspicion of the woman’s well-being.

The incident was detailed by Spanish newspaper Diario de Avisos. Specifics such as the couple’s nationality, the precise date, and the airline involved have not been disclosed. According to reports, the man was seen pushing his wife in a wheelchair, giving the impression of a typical elderly couple preparing to travel. However, security personnel became alarmed after observing unusual circumstances.

A witness described the moment when the guard realized the woman’s critical condition after the man handed over the wheelchair. Medical assistance was immediately requested, leading to the swift arrival of security personnel, Civil Guard members, and forensic experts at the scene.

Initially, the husband claimed his wife had passed away within the airport premises a few hours earlier. However, conflicting accounts from employees suggested he tried to attribute her death to the airport, which is currently under investigation. The man was detained at the airport, cooperated with authorities, and is being investigated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his wife’s demise.

This incident occurred shortly after an elderly woman passed away on an EasyJet flight from Malaga to London. Allegations arose that she may have been deceased before boarding, though EasyJet maintained she was fit to fly upon assessment.
