“48-Year-Old Charged with First-Degree Murder in Ottawa”

Ottawa police have brought charges against a suspect for first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 26-year-old man in Ottawa in 2023. The victim, Granit Ahmeti, was discovered with gunshot wounds on Farmers Way close to Carlsbad Springs early on August 19, 2023, and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Initially, authorities had indicated that the shooting appeared to be an isolated event.

Recently, Richard Micks, aged 48 and hailing from the Georgian Bay region, was apprehended by the police and formally accused of first-degree murder. Micks made an appearance in court the following day. Ahmeti was known as a co-owner of a company named Canadian Towing, which remembered him as a “selfless brother, loving partner, and the kindest friend” after his tragic passing.

Individuals with any additional information related to the case are urged to reach out to the police’s homicide unit for assistance.
