Virgin Media has introduced a significant upgrade for its TV platform users, offering three new bonus channels without any additional charges. The telecoms company has partnered with Rakuten to bring Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels to its customers.
The new channels include Rakuten TV Drama on Ch462, featuring popular movies like The Big Short, Gosford Park, and JFK. Rakuten TV Comedy on Ch463 offers content such as Big Momma’s House, The Internship, and Bedazzled, providing viewers with beloved comedies. Additionally, Rakuten TV: Sci Fi on Ch464 presents a variety of content from the sci-fi genre.
Virgin TV 360 and Flex customers will automatically receive these channels, accessible through the Virgin Media TV guide and voice control search. David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed excitement about the new streaming channels, emphasizing the added value and entertainment they bring to customers without any extra cost.
With this enhancement, Virgin TV subscribers now have access to a total of 40 FAST channels, including options like British Screen Classics, Inside Crime, and U&Transport. While a subscription fee is required for Virgin Media TV services, the expanded channel lineup offers a superior viewing experience compared to free alternatives.
