In preparation for his upcoming return to the boxing ring, Tyson Fury has unveiled a list of three potential opponents he is eager to face, with Anthony Joshua being a key target.
Having previously announced his retirement in January following losses to Oleksandr Usyk, the ‘Gypsy King’ has since reversed his decision. Fury, 37, has been intensifying his training regimen in recent months, currently honing his skills in Thailand for what promises to be a significant year in his boxing career.
Training alongside WBC bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena, Fury has not shied away from naming his desired opponents, including Usyk, Joshua, and Fabio Wardley. He recently shared a captivating image on his Instagram account, depicting confrontational visuals with these heavyweight rivals.
Furthermore, Fury has hinted at a potential matchup with Wardley, acknowledging the possibility of a fight later in 2026. Wardley gained recognition after a spectacular eleventh-round knockout victory over Joseph Parker, leading to his promotion to full champion following Usyk’s relinquishment of the title.
While a trilogy fight with Usyk seems uncertain due to statements from Usyk’s advisor suggesting closure on their rivalry, fans are eagerly anticipating a showdown between Fury and Joshua. Despite initial plans for a summer clash, Joshua’s recent involvement in a tragic car accident in Nigeria has cast doubt on the timeline for their potential bout.
Frank Warren, Fury’s promoter, has expressed uncertainty about the scheduling of the Fury-Joshua fight, hinting that it may be delayed until late 2026 or even postponed indefinitely. Warren acknowledged the impact of the accident on Joshua’s mental state and emphasized that the boxer’s focus is currently elsewhere, beyond the realm of boxing.
