Tragic Crash Involving Anthony Joshua’s Driver: Charges Filed

Anthony Joshua’s driver is facing charges of reckless and dangerous driving following a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of two close friends of the boxer. Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was behind the wheel of a black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua, Latif Ayodele, and Sina Ghami when it collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Kayode, who had fled the scene, was later found and treated for injuries before being taken into police custody and subsequently charged.

The driver has been presented before the Sagamu Magistrate Court and granted bail pending further legal proceedings. The charges against him include causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver’s license. The case has been adjourned to January 20 for further hearings.

In a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the accident was triggered by a tire blowout due to excessive speeding. The wrecked vehicles have been recovered, with the truck involved found illegally parked at the site of the crash. Meanwhile, tributes have poured in for the deceased friends, with the boxing community expressing condolences and support for Joshua during this difficult time.

The accident occurred shortly after Joshua’s recent boxing match, where he emerged victorious. Plans for future fights, including a highly anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury, may be affected by the tragic incident. Joshua’s focus has understandably shifted from boxing to mourning the loss of his friends and dealing with the aftermath of the accident.
