All Freeview households have recently received an exciting update to their entertainment lineup. A new channel has just been introduced this week, previously exclusive to premium TV platforms like Sky and Virgin Media. This enhancement means that Freeview viewers can now enjoy TLC, a channel renowned for its reality shows, comedy, and movies.
TLC is popular for its hit reality programs such as Dr Pimple Popper and Say Yes To The Dress. Additionally, TLC is broadening its content with a diverse range of shows, including sitcoms and blockbuster films.
After the update is implemented, Freeview users will have access to favorite shows like The Big Bang Theory, Mock the Week, and Young Sheldon. Movie enthusiasts can also anticipate enjoying blockbuster titles like Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Freeview has announced that TLC is now available on channel 12, although some households may need to retune their devices to access it.
“As of January 13, 2026, certain broadcasters are making channel adjustments,” Freeview stated.
“To keep your channels and TV Guide up to date, you will need to perform a retune on your TV.”
In addition to adding TLC, the update will result in a minor channel reorganization. Quest will transition from Channel 12 to Channel 17 to accommodate TLC, while Really will move from Channel 17 to Channel 44.
However, not all news is positive. Freeview has confirmed the closure of HGTV, leading to the removal of popular programs like My Lottery Dream Home, Celebrity IOU, and Building Alaska from the platform. Other channels being shut down include HGTV, God TV, and India Today.
