“Tangalooma Island Resort: Paradise Found Near Brisbane”

Australia is often associated with stunning beaches, golden sands, surfing, and abundant sunshine. Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island, located just a short boat ride from Brisbane city center, offers a slice of paradise away from the urban hustle.

As the third-largest sand island globally (with the top two also in Australia), Moreton boasts approximately 25 miles of pristine beachfront. Unlike the chaotic scenes of sunbed competition, visitors can bask in tranquility and choose from a variety of beach spots.

Whether opting for a day trip or an extended stay, the island offers a picturesque setting. The boat journey reveals a breathtaking transition from white-lined coasts to lush greenery, with giant pelicans welcoming guests at the jetty. Bird enthusiasts can enjoy informative talks and witness the daily Kookaburra feeding sessions.

Despite my visit during Australia’s winter, Moreton Island’s Queensland region offered summer-like temperatures in the 20s Celsius. For the more adventurous, exhilarating ATV quadbike tours are available, providing a thrilling experience through bush trails and sand dunes, offering spectacular panoramic views.

After a day of exploration, the four-star resort offers a selection of dining options. I indulged in grilled barramundi, a delectable Asian sea bass dish not commonly found at home. Guests can relax at beachfront bars or engage in various activities, including whale watching, sand tobogganing, and surfing.

One of the main attractions is hand-feeding wild bottlenose dolphins at sunset, a tradition that began in 1986 when a dolphin named Beauty started interacting with guests. Now, two family groups of dolphins visit regularly for feeding sessions, ensuring minimal impact on their natural hunting behaviors.
