A remarkable sugar sculpture depicting London’s famous Tower Bridge has been unveiled, showcasing intricate details of the iconic landmark. Crafted using over 25kg of sugar, equivalent to nearly 100,000 calories, the replica stands at two-and-a-half-feet tall and features elements like the towers and open-air walkway.
Renowned artist Michelle Wibowo meticulously designed the sculpture after studying the bridge’s architecture, incorporating delicate windows, doors, and suspension rods. The piece was part of Kellogg’s ‘Reductive Art Exhibition – a story of salt and sugar,’ highlighting the company’s efforts to reduce salt and sugar content in its cereals by 18% and 23% respectively over the past decade.
Wibowo expressed her excitement about creating a sugar artwork for the exhibition, emphasizing the research process behind Tower Bridge’s design history. The free exhibition, scheduled to open in London and Paris on September 8th and 9th at gallery@oxo, will feature various salt and sugar sculptures, sketches, and animations by well-known artists like Quentin Devine and Gala Bell.
A spokesperson from Kellogg’s emphasized the brand’s commitment to promoting healthier breakfast choices through recipe improvements without compromising taste. The exhibition aims to visually showcase the company’s dedication to reducing salt and sugar content in cereals while maintaining the products’ great flavor without artificial sweeteners.
