Struggling families are encouraged to apply for cost of living vouchers worth up to £500 this summer, offered by Ribble Valley Borough Council through the Household Support Fund. This fund, allocated to local councils by the central Government, provides support in the form of vouchers or cash grants that do not require repayment.
Ribble Valley Borough Council is distributing food vouchers to qualifying households with a total annual income below £35,000. The voucher amounts vary based on household composition: £200 for individuals, £300 for households with two or more adults, and £500 for households with children.
To address the ongoing cost of living challenges, the Mirror has introduced a Money WhatsApp community to provide the latest cost-saving advice directly to users’ phones. By joining the community, members will receive real-time updates, exclusive content, special offers, and promotions.
Interested individuals can apply for the vouchers on the ribblevalley.gov.uk website until July 11, 2025, subject to funding availability. Residents who previously received vouchers between October 2024 and March 2025 are ineligible, with a similar restriction for those who received vouchers between April 2024 and September 2024 until after October 2025.
Other councils, like the City of Doncaster Council, are also offering support through the Household Support Fund for eligible households receiving specific benefits. For instance, households with dependent children may receive payments for food and energy bills according to the council’s criteria.
Councils such as Hull City Council and Hartlepool Borough Council are providing financial aid and food vouchers to pensioner households, low-income families, and households with children eligible for free school meals. These initiatives aim to alleviate financial strain and support vulnerable groups during challenging times.
