“Sky Q vs. Manhattan T4-R: TV Recording Showdown”

Sky Q remains a popular choice for recording live TV with its access to numerous channels and built-in hard drive for content storage. Despite Sky’s focus on streaming devices for new customers, Sky Q is available for purchase starting at £32 per month. This device offers features like full voice search, app integration including Netflix, content recommendations, and a TV guide.

For those hesitant about committing to a long-term contract, Argos is offering the Manhattan T4-R box at its lowest price ever. Similar to Sky Q, the Manhattan T4-R boasts a built-in hard drive capable of storing over 1,100 hours of content. Users can record two programs simultaneously while watching a third, with access to an additional 60,000 hours of on-demand shows and movies.

Priced at £217, the premium 2TB Manhattan T4-R model (also available in 1TB) is available at Argos. The Manhattan T4-R, powered by Freeview, offers over 100 free-to-watch channels with no monthly fees after purchase. Alternatively, John Lewis has reduced the price to £215.17, providing a discount of over £14 from the original RRP.

While these devices offer cost-effective options for TV recording, it is important to note that Freeview devices like the Manhattan T4-R do not grant access to premium channels such as Sky Sports or Sky Cinema. Therefore, users should consider their content preferences before choosing between Sky Q and alternative devices.
