“Parent Saves £500 on Lapland Trip vs. Lapland UK”

Finland’s Lapland is a popular winter destination known for its enchanting snow-covered landscape, where visitors can meet Santa Claus, experience the Northern Lights, and interact with reindeer.

A parent from Nottinghamshire, Jen Carr, opted for a trip to Lapland, Finland, to save money and add extra joy to the holiday season. By exploring various travel options, Jen managed to secure a significant saving of £500 compared to a visit to Lapland UK.

Originally planning a visit to Lapland UK, Jen discovered that the UK-based winter wonderland could cost them around £1,100 for the trip. Determined to find a more affordable alternative, Jen researched flight options to Lapland, Finland, and found reasonably priced direct flights from London Stansted for £103 per person.

To further cut costs, Jen and her group decided to stay at a reindeer farm an hour away from the main city of Rovaniemi, where accommodation prices were significantly lower. They also rented a car for £147 to explore the area and drive from the airport to the farm.

Planning to engage in various activities like sledging, feeding reindeer, and visiting Santa Claus Village, Jen emphasized the importance of researching and being flexible to save on travel expenses. By opting for self-catering meals and bringing their own snacks, Jen and her group managed to keep their total expenses for flights, accommodation, and activities at £149 per person.

Jen Carr, a family travel expert, shares budget-friendly holiday tips on her website, The Travel Mum, offering insights on how to save money and make the most of family vacations.
