A woman has been given a life sentence for the murder of her four-week-old daughter in a horrific incident. The convict, 25-year-old China Arnold, resided with her partner and children in Dayton, Ohio back in 2005. She brought her infant, Paris, to the hospital while intoxicated, where the child was found lifeless. Arnold was initially released due to insufficient evidence but was later arrested again.
Prosecutors revealed that Arnold had placed her daughter in a microwave following a dispute over the child’s paternity and switched it on. Medical experts confirmed that the baby died from extreme heat exposure inside the microwave. Arnold’s former cellmate disclosed that Arnold had admitted to killing her daughter out of fear her partner would discover her infidelity.
Arnold faced trial in 2008, where various testimonies were presented. Despite claims of potential alternative suspects, the evidence pointed to Arnold as the perpetrator. She was convicted of aggravated murder and received a life sentence without parole. Despite appeals, the sentence remained unchanged. Arnold, now imprisoned at Dayton Correctional Institution, has been evaluated to have average intelligence with no significant mental health issues beyond mild depression and substance abuse.
