Mark Wright humorously mentioned that a recent project of his was deemed “bad” by his wife, Michelle Keegan, to the extent that she refuses to watch it. Mark, a former star of “The Only Way is Essex,” has been married to Michelle Keegan, known for her role in “Coronation Street,” since 2015. The couple welcomed their first child, Palma, into the world in March.
Since departing from “TOWIE” nearly 15 years ago, Mark, aged 38, has been featured on various television programs such as “Strictly Come Dancing” and “The Bachelor.” In 2024, he embarked on a Saturday morning radio venture on Heart FM alongside former “X Factor” contestant Olly Murs, aged 41. As part of their collaboration with the station, Mark and Olly engaged in a series of playful challenges on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
These challenges included endeavors like getting selfies with cartoon characters at Warner Bros World, experiencing the 149mph Formula Rossa rollercoaster at Ferrari Land, and engaging in speed boat races. However, things took a humorous turn when they braved Yas Waterworld, attempting the tallest drop slide, the fastest slide, and navigating the rapids.
During an appearance on Heart Breakfast, Mark shared that the rapids challenge proved to be the toughest due to ill-fitting flippers and the fast-paced nature of the task. When asked about Michelle’s reaction to the challenges, Mark revealed that she chose to stay away from watching and instead relaxed by the pool with a pina colada and Palma.
Addressing the situation, Amanda Holden teased Mark about his wife’s disinterest in their challenges. Mark, in good spirits, acknowledged the lack of interest from Michelle and humorously thanked his supportive family, including his mother. Notably, Mark clarified that his appreciation was directed towards his mom, Carol, who recently disclosed her delightful experience babysitting Palma on the family’s podcast.
Carol, aged 65, expressed her joy in looking after Palma, highlighting the child’s playful nature during a shopping trip. Jess, Mark’s 40-year-old sister and a former “TOWIE” cast member, marveled at Palma’s exceptional behavior, contrasting it with the challenges she faced with her own son, Presley.
In a heartwarming moment, Carol admitted to feeling the need to exercise restraint when it comes to Michelle, emphasizing that she aims to avoid the stereotype of a “wicked mother-in-law.” This sentiment was further elaborated on in a previous podcast episode where Carol discussed her approach to being a mother-in-law, emphasizing the delicate balance of welcoming a new family member while respecting boundaries.
