A man who entered a store thinking he had won €100 (£86) on a scratch card was amazed to discover he had actually won over €100,000 (£86,400).
The customer casually walked into the Agora Café bar in Sarmeola di Rubano, located in Italy’s Padua province on September 1, under the impression that he had won €100. However, the shop owner, Erika Ni, revealed that he had actually won €100,000 (£86,515) from the €2 (£1.73) ticket he had bought at the end of August.
Erika mentioned that the man, estimated to be in his 40s, looked at her in disbelief before leaving the establishment in utter shock, although he did celebrate with Erika and other customers at the café bar, as reported by Corriere Del Veneto.
Recalling the moment, Erika shared that the man, a familiar face at the store, was taken aback and humorously questioned her about the unexpected news. She described how he arrived with his usual cheerful demeanor, thinking he had won a mere €100, only to be surprised by the significant prize.
Overwhelmed with joy for the man, Erika found it difficult to convey the news to him, stating that she was too excited. When she finally broke the news that he had won a hundred thousand euros, he was in disbelief.
Erika speculated that the man might have gone on vacation with some of his winnings, mentioning that the whole town was buzzing about his luck. She expressed happiness for him, as did his friends and other patrons at the bar.
She promptly provided him with the necessary information on how to claim his prize, emphasizing that for such large amounts, a visit to the bank was required. Erika believed that he was already planning something special for himself and his family.
The local newspaper, il mattino di Padova, reported that not only Erika but also his friends and fellow customers joined in celebrating his good fortune. Erika shared that they were all delighted for him, highlighting that he was a cherished customer who frequented the place.
