King Charles is preparing to launch a new venue for weddings and private events on his charitable estate in Scotland. The venue, named The King’s Hall in honor of the monarch, is a significant extension to Dumfries House in Cumnock, East Ayrshire, with an estimated cost of around £6.5 million.
The expansion will feature a single-story addition housing a 282 square meter public hall, capable of accommodating up to 200 guests for private functions. Couples looking to get married on the royal grounds can expect prices starting from £5,500 for midweek weddings, increasing to £8,500 for weekend ceremonies, in addition to catering expenses.
The King’s Foundation, founded by Charles over 35 years ago, aims to establish The King’s Hall as a premier venue for upscale weddings and private events both locally and internationally. Scheduled to open in 2027, the extension is designed to harmonize with the architectural style of the 300-year-old house, utilizing traditional building techniques and locally sourced materials.
Gordon Neil, the executive director of The King’s Foundation, emphasized the importance of incorporating traditional crafts and local materials in the construction process to align with the organization’s focus on architecture and heritage craft skills.
Evan Samson, the general manager of Dumfries House, expressed excitement about the unique offerings The King’s Hall will bring, providing an intimate and historically grand atmosphere for various events. The new venue is expected to enhance the historical significance of Dumfries House and create employment opportunities through the foundation’s educational programs.
Revenue generated from ticketed events and venue rentals will be channeled back into the conservation and development of the estate, as well as supporting the foundation’s educational initiatives and community projects. With the new extension, The King’s Foundation anticipates hosting multiple large-scale events each week, a significant increase from the current capacity limitations. The inaugural events at The King’s Hall are scheduled to commence in July 2027.
