ICE Shooting Sparks Minneapolis Unrest

Minneapolis experienced further unrest as a member of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot a man following the recent tragic killing of Renee Good. The incident occurred during a car chase to apprehend an individual described as an “illegal alien from Venezuela.” The federal officer shot the man in the leg after he crashed his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

According to Homeland Security, two individuals from a nearby apartment intervened to assist the man, leading to a confrontation where the officer felt threatened and fired his weapon, injuring one person. The injured man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while the ICE agent also received medical treatment.

Minneapolis authorities confirmed the shooting and reported that the FBI is investigating the incident. Mayor Jacob Frey criticized ICE for causing turmoil in Minnesota. This event follows the controversial killing of Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross, which sparked global attention and outrage.

Local residents gathered to protest against ICE’s actions, with tensions escalating in the city. The Trump administration’s response to the protests and the deployment of around 3,000 ICE officers to Minneapolis in recent weeks have further fueled the unrest.

The demonstrations saw federal agents using tear gas and engaging in confrontations with protesters, leading to emotional scenes and heightened tensions in Minneapolis. Protesters displayed anti-ICE signs, reflecting the growing opposition to the agency’s operations in the city.
