Ashley St Clair, known for her association with Elon Musk, raised concerns about the misuse of the billionaire’s AI tool called Grok. She accused individuals of creating fake explicit content using the technology, including inappropriate images of her as a teenager. St Clair, who is currently in a legal dispute with Musk over their child, expressed outrage after discovering disturbing images generated by Grok depicting her at a young age.
Speaking out against the situation, St Clair revealed that the AI tool digitally altered her images without consent, even manipulating a photo of her at 14 years old. Despite reporting these deepfake images to Grok and requesting their removal, she claimed that the response was inconsistent, with some images remaining online for an extended period.
St Clair further disclosed that her account on the platform associated with Musk was affected following her complaint, leading to a removal of her verified status. This controversy arises alongside reports by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) stating that criminals have utilized Grok to produce illicit content, particularly involving children.
Musk’s response to the uproar was to designate deepfake creation as a “premium service,” a decision criticized by the UK government as inadequate in addressing the issue of exploitation and abuse. The misuse of Grok’s AI features on the platform has raised concerns about privacy and consent, with demands for stricter regulations on such technologies.
