EasyJet has announced a new flight route from a UK airport to a popular culinary destination worldwide. Residents in Liverpool and nearby areas will soon have access to flights to Naples, with ticket prices starting from £40.99. This addition expands easyJet’s network to 41 routes covering 17 countries in Europe and North Africa.
Naples is renowned as the birthplace of pizza, with the modern version of this beloved dish originating within the city limits. Initially considered a street food for the less affluent in the 1600s, pizza has evolved into an iconic international culinary delight.
UNESCO has recognized the Neapolitan pizza-making tradition as an intangible cultural heritage. A global YouGov survey from 2019 with 25,000 participants across 24 countries showed Italian cuisine’s universal popularity. Naples boasts numerous exceptional pizzerias awaiting exploration.
Prominent pizzerias like L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, established in 1870, offer a minimalistic menu featuring classic pizzas like Margherita and Marinara. Sorbillo is another popular choice, known for its light, airy dough and fresh toppings.
After indulging in pizza, a 20-minute train ride can take you to Pompeii for an unforgettable day trip. The ancient city was preserved in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, offering a unique glimpse into ancient daily life.
Pompeii is not just a collection of ruins but an entire city with streets, villas, bakeries, and even brothels adorned with frescoes, offering an authentic look at ancient Roman life.
Naples enjoys a mild climate of around 15°C even in the coldest months, with clear skies being a common sight. During summer, temperatures can reach the mid-30s, making it an ideal time to visit.
Flights from Liverpool to Naples will operate twice a week starting from August 3, with bookings available on easyJet.com and the mobile app. To support the new routes, easyJet plans to introduce an additional aircraft next summer, increasing its fleet to nine.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, expressed the airline’s commitment to providing affordable travel options for UK customers. Robin Tudor, head of PR & Communications at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, anticipates the new route to Naples being popular among travelers, highlighting the various attractions in the region.
With operations at 22 UK airports and over 630 routes connecting passengers to 140 destinations, the budget airline continues to expand its network across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
