“Darts Player Dom Taylor Apologizes for Drug Use, Personal Tragedy”

Darts player Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for misleading statements regarding his drug use and reflected on the personal tragedy of losing his daughter. Following his removal from the PDC World Championship, Taylor, 27, shared a detailed apology on Facebook.

The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) confirmed that Taylor tested positive for drugs on December 14, leading to his suspension from the tournament. Despite winning £25,000 in the first round against Oskar Lukasiak, Taylor’s prize money was withheld due to the suspension, allowing his second-round opponent, Jonny Clayton, a direct pass to the third round.

In his social media post, Taylor expressed regret for his behavior, mentioning a previous drug test failure before the Ally Pally tournament in 2025. He admitted to deceiving others and himself, emphasizing his remorse for the lies told post his match against Lukasiak.

Acknowledging his completion of the required program after last year’s suspension, Taylor revealed the emotional turmoil he faced during his teenage years, citing traumatic events that impacted him deeply. He highlighted the support from his family and the need for additional help beyond counseling.

Taylor disclosed struggles with mental health, especially triggered by the anniversary of his daughter’s passing, leading him back to substance use as a coping mechanism. He indicated plans to seek assistance after the holiday season.

Expressing the need for open communication and seeking help, Taylor recognized the importance of reaching out to others during challenging times. Despite missing his uncle’s funeral due to tournament commitments, he expressed remorse and a commitment to receiving necessary support.

Concluding his statement with gratitude for support received, Taylor affirmed his determination to return stronger in the future.
