“Christmas Chocolate Prices Soar: Shoppers Advised to Budget Wisely”

As the holiday season approaches, many of us are tempted to purchase a tin of chocolates to share with loved ones or enjoy alone. However, if you’re thinking of indulging in this festive treat, it might be wise to start saving up.

Traditionally, a tin of Christmas chocolates would have cost no more than five pounds. Yet, during my recent visit to the supermarket, I was taken aback by the prices of Cadbury Roses and Heroes tins. Hoping to buy a tin for myself at Sainsbury’s, I was shocked to find both 700g tins priced at £16.50.

While there is a discounted price of £10 for those with a Nectar card, it still seems quite steep in my opinion.

Fortunately, Sainsbury’s offers more budget-friendly options for chocolate tins this Christmas season.

According to the website, the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Mixed Chunks Tin (60g) is priced at £9.59 or £6.50 with a Nectar card. Additionally, a 750g tin of Quality Street costs £13 or £8.50 with a Nectar card.

For just £6, shoppers at Sainsbury’s can also purchase a 500-550g tub of Celebrations, Heroes, or Quality Street.

Those seeking a bargain may find better deals at Tesco, where the same 500-550g Celebrations and Quality Street tubs are currently priced at just £3.95 with a Clubcard, or £4.50 without the card.

Moreover, the Heroes tin, priced at £16.50 (£10 with a Nectar card) at Sainsbury’s, is available for only £7.50 with a Clubcard at Tesco, but normally retails at £15.

Recently, a study revealed the supermarkets offering the cheapest Christmas chocolate tubs.

According to the study, standard tubs of Heroes, Roses, and Celebrations are priced under £5 at Asda, while Morrisons sells them for £7 (or £5.50 with a Morrisons More Card).

Celebrations and Quality Street are available for just £3.95 with a Clubcard at Tesco, with Roses and Heroes priced at £7 (£5.25 with a Clubcard). Additionally, Aldi and Lidl offer tubs for less than £5 each.

While Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do not stock traditional tubs on their websites, they provide smaller pouch-sized packets and alternative festive chocolates priced between approximately £4 and £10.
