“Brits Call on Labour Leader: Take Tougher Stance on Trump”

A recent survey conducted by Deltapoll revealed that a significant portion of Brits are calling for Labour leader Keir Starmer to adopt a more critical stance towards US President Donald Trump. The survey indicated that only 20% of respondents believe that Trump’s upcoming second term in office will benefit the UK.

Despite Prime Minister Johnson’s cordial approach towards Trump, including lavish gifts and praise, there is a growing sentiment among the public that a stronger stance is needed. Approximately 43% of those surveyed expressed concerns that Trump’s re-election could have negative consequences for the UK.

Moreover, nearly half of the respondents expressed a desire for Starmer to be more vocal in his criticisms of Trump, with only 15% advocating for a softer approach. The survey also highlighted that 27% of participants believe that Trump’s second term will have no significant impact on the UK.

While Starmer had previously defended maintaining a working relationship with the Trump administration to secure trade deals, there is mounting pressure on him to challenge Trump’s recent controversial actions, such as threatening legal action against the BBC and potential support for far-right European candidates.

During a recent parliamentary session, opposition leader Sir Ed Davey urged Starmer to unequivocally denounce any attempts by Trump to interfere with the UK’s democratic processes. In response, Starmer emphasized the importance of unity in Europe and upheld the values of freedom and democracy.

The Deltapoll survey, which gathered responses from 1,997 British adults online, was conducted from December 16th to December 18th, 2025, and the data was adjusted to accurately represent the broader British adult population.
