Visitors in London during the lead-up to the festive season might catch a glimpse of a special display featuring Apple’s iPad. The renowned tablet has been utilized to craft 24 colorful designs that are now being projected onto the iconic towers of Battersea Power Station, a location that serves as one of Apple’s UK headquarters.
These vibrant artworks have been carefully selected from numerous entries submitted by the public for Apple’s “Your Tree on Battersea” competition. As night falls, the images will illuminate two of the towering 101-meter chimneys overlooking the River Thames.
Expressing her excitement, Varsha Simha, a resident of Canterbury, shared, “Being chosen in this competition is truly thrilling. My inspiration came from the cozy elements like sweaters, stockings, and warm festive items found at the Christmas market during the coldest months.”
Adding to the joy, 7-year-old winner Miah D.B exclaimed, “I’m overjoyed to be selected. I created this tree on my iPad because I enjoy drawing on it, and my inspiration stemmed from various emotions.”
In addition to the winners’ creations, the display also features drawings from notable personalities such as Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa.
This competition continues Apple’s tradition of celebrating festive creativity and marks the first time the company has opened such an opportunity to the public.
In the past, artist David Hockney showcased “Bigger Christmas Trees on iPad Pro” in 2023, and last year, Aardman, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, used an iPhone 16 Pro Max to produce a short animation.
Reflecting on the event, Chawawa stated, “It’s a significant moment for me to host Apple’s inaugural iPad Christmas tree competition. As a child, I spent weekends at the store, filling up an iPad with photos, so leading Your Tree on Battersea now holds special meaning. I’m thrilled that we’re uniting people nationwide to create Christmas trees on iPads and illuminate them across this magnificent city.”
The delightful display will brighten up Battersea from today until Christmas Eve.
