“Amazon Fan Recall: Electric Shock Risk Alert”

An urgent recall has been issued for a fan sold on Amazon due to safety concerns about potential electric shock risks. The A-Faction856 Ceiling Fan, manufactured in China, is under scrutiny with product codes FBA15JYLVF9HU000040 and X0027BDFWD being flagged for safety reasons.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards highlighted that the fan poses a significant electric shock hazard due to inadequate insulation and insufficient clearance distance between circuits. The substandard insulation may wear down over time, exposing live wires and increasing the risk of electric shock. This product fails to comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Consumers who have purchased the affected fan are advised to contact Amazon for refund options. This recall follows a previous safety alert for Citroen C3 and DS3 models related to faulty Takata airbag systems.

Additionally, nearly 60,000 air fryers in the Republic of Ireland are being recalled over fire safety concerns. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) urges consumers to cease using specific Tower air fryer models due to a manufacturing defect.

Although no incidents have been reported in Ireland, instances of these air fryers catching fire have been documented in the UK. The affected models, manufactured between 2020 and 2024, were sold at various retailers including Argos, Tesco Ireland, DID, Dealz, Lidl, and Amazon.

To determine if your air fryer is affected, check the model number on the appliance rating label at the bottom. Consumers with the impacted air fryers are advised to immediately stop using them, unplug the devices, and contact Tower Housewares at towerproduct@customersvc.co.uk. For further assistance, contact the CCPC national consumer helpline at 01 402 5555 or email ask@ccpc.ie.
